Recover Lost Data - Undelete from Stompsoft - Useful tool
January 4, 2006
Today I was transferring photos from my Sony Cybershot DSC-S90 digital camera to my pc through the USB cable. Suddenly the computer froze and I had to restart. When I checked the destination folder to which I was copying the data, I found that some photos were not yet copied. These photos were not in the camera either.
Wondering what to do, I searched in the recycle bin and some other folders. Then I remembered that I had a complimentary copy of "Recover Lost Data" from Stompsoft. I decided to give it a try.
I put in the CD and it showed up some options - one was to run recover data (or was it undelete) without install. I selected this option and then the program gave me a list of drives from which to recover the lost data.
I had the camera plugged in through the usb cable and this showed up as one of the drives. I selected this drive and the program went ahead and tried to recover files. It took about 5 mins and then a list of files showed up.
Most of the photos that I lost and some of the photos that were earlier deleted was also on the list. I selected all these files and asked the program to copy it to a destination folder on my hard drive.
Of the recovered photos, one of them was not opening in any viewers except IE. Only this photo was corrupted.
I was very impressed with how "Recover Lost Data" had got me back the photos. Anyone in a situation similar to mine, or having lost files on your hard drive should definitely give this program a shot. The current price is $39.99 and is available at Stompsoft's website.
