HDFC Credit Card

December 19, 2005

Obtaining a credit card from HDFC is a bit tricky if you are like me - returned NRI, not currently employed. This is because they need some sort of verification of income. So if you are not employed, there are a couple of other options:

1. Have an LIC policy with annual premuim over Rs. 6000
2. Open the SB account in HDFC bank with Rs. 25000 or more

The funny part is that you need to 'open' with 25K or more. If you open with 5K and then transfer in 20K, that will not suffice. As I did not know this detail, I'll have to wait out and see if there are any other alternatives.

So if you need a credit card and are in a similar position, make sure you open the account with 25K+
