ThinkGeek Overview

The founders of Think Geek started an Internet Service Provider based in Northern Virginia in 1955. The founders later started an online retailer shop which sold merchandise targeted to electronic enthusiasts like programmers, engineers, students, open source developers and the fast-growing Internet culture. Majority of the products sold at Think Geek are related to the Internet culture. Geek Points system at ThinkGeek enables the customer to earn rewards for buying more products.

Think Geek offers discounts for higher-quantity orders. Orders for a particular item with quantity 100 or more are eligible for discounts. Products eligible for higher-quantity discounts include Gadgets (laser pointers, Photon lights, watches, etc.) Electronic products, Cube goodies and other toys. Delivery time taken for higher-quantity orders might be longer than normal, but probably would not exceed two weeks in most cases. ThinkGeek also offers company logo printing on products. A minimum order of 100 units is required for logo printing.

At Think Geek, in-stock orders are normally shipped within 1-2 business days. Items which are marked with special shipping instructions are normally shipped within 3-5 business days. All shipping transit times are quoted only during business days (Monday-Friday). The customer can choose between UPS (Ground, 2 Day, and Next Day) or FedEx (Home Delivery, 3 Day, 2 Day, and Standard Overnight). Customers are provided with a tracking number for orders shipped through UPS or FedEx. Expedited shipping is also available for domestic orders with next day, 2-day, and 3-day shipping options. Orders must be placed before 1 pm Eastern Time on business days to receive expedited shipping.

The Return Policy of the company enables the customer to return the product for refund, store credit or exchange, if not satisfied with the purchase. The product should be returned within 30 days from the date of order shipment date. All returns should be accompanied with a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA#). All returned items should be send back to the company in its original packaging, along with all accessories, warranty cards, manuals, software, etc. When the returns are received, refund will be issued against the customer's credit card or an email gift certificate (store credit) for the item returned.

Gift certificates are available at ThinkGeek for 8 different amounts, ranging from $10 to $150. Gift Certificates are e-mailed to the recipient as a code and can be used during purchases at Think Geek site. Gift certificates can be ordered after signing up with ThinkGeek site. Gift Certificates expire one year from the date of purchase and are non-refundable. Gift Certificates take up to one business day for processing, so the customer has to plan accordingly.
